Why register? There can only be positive reasons for hapū members registering. The benefits are numerous, from reaffirming your birthright as a member of a particular hapū who can whakapapa to a particular iwi, thus allowing a closer relationship with other hapū members, a chance to learn whakapapa, waiata, pepeha, tikanga, kawa and other cultural values passed on by our tupuna. Registering also gives you a formal right to participate in the decision making process and entitlement to any benefits from the settlement of the land and fisheries Waitangi Tribunal Claim, asset distribution, scholarships etc.
Who is eligible? All descendants of hapū of Rangitāne o Tamaki nui a Rua: Ngāti Te Rangiwhakaewa, Ngāti Pakapaka, Ngāti Hāmua Ngāti Mutuahi, Ngāti Parakiore, Ngāti Ruatōtara, Ngāti Te Koro, Te Kapuārangi and Te Hika ā Papāūma.
Why update? Members currently registered should regularly update their membership to ensure changes of information i.e. Phone, address etc is correctly recorded
